"Full of engaging stories and real-world examples. The project management method known as Scrum may be the most widely deployed productivity tool among high-tech companies. On a mission to put this tool into the hands of the broader business world for the first time, Jeff Sutherland succeeds brilliantly." (Eric Ries, New York Times bestselling author of The Lean Startup)"Required reading." (The Times (Book of the Week))"Engaging, persuasive and extremely practical...Scrum provides a simple framework for solving what seem like intractable and complicated work problems. Jeff did a great job by writing this book. This book is not classical book about SCRUM where you will find strict definitions about SCRUM roles, and other terms, but rather explanation how Jeff came to idea to develop SCRUM (SCRUM origins).Don't expect that book will teach you how to perform a SCRUM, rather the book teaches you what are PROS of the SCRUM and your job is to find the way to implement it in your project. You should read the whenever you feel you need help, or you are experiencing problems with your SCRUM process.

Jeff describes the way how he developed the framework that we know today as Scrum and which is summarized in the Scrum Guide. While describing the different challenges he had to solve, Jeff introduces the Scrum artefacts, roles, and events. This helps to not only learn the Scrum fundamentals but instead to understand the benefits of the artefacts, roles, and events. There is just one thing that made it hard to read through the whole book and why I subtracted one star - the recurring stories about military and war.

It's not a "how-to-implement-scrum-guide" but it gives a great deal of insights how the methodology originated, why it works and what the common challenges are that a manager/company/the team has to face.Working in the field of change-management, I appreciate deepening my understanding and thus found it very useful.(fyi - it's available in some Airlines as in-flight audiobook)

It is always a pleasure reading books written by people who have a clear theoretical ground, who know what they are talking about because they have done it with their own hands and who can express everything in a powerful but simple language. When I saw the title I expected one of these typical „10 steps to become a bilioneer“- or „Rather rich and healthy than poor and sick“ books, but it is far away from all these boring and tiring buzzword stuff.
